Gyotu- Cable Damascus

NZ$500.00

Weight 220g

Blade length is 22cm, total length including handle is 37cm

47mm deep heel

4mm thick at the spine, 1mm thick at the tip.

The bolster on this knife is made from the tip of a bronze bolt my friend found while spearfishing outside the New Plymouth harbor. Perhaps remains from one of the many shipwrecks on this coast.

I retained the threads on the bolt along with the ocean given patina. This in turn set the handle shape which is a little larger than I normally make. Great if you have large hands.

I forget what wood I used for the handle, perhaps American white oak?

Plenty of Wabi-Sabi in this piece.
